As we look ahead to the 2024-2025 school year when we plan to move our Upper School to Shore Road, the general appeal for support of our capital campaign has now become an important priority for the entire Bay Ridge Prep community to consider. Decisions about classroom furniture, science labs, music and art studios, technology support and many other details are being made each week. We are also looking towards the start of phase two, the construction of a new gymnasium, which will be completed in 2025. We have set our capital campaign goal at $4,000,000 and we have received donations and pledges to meet over 80% of this goal!

All families who make gifts or pledges of $10,000 or more, and wish to be recognized, will have their names added to a plaque proudly displayed in our new Shore Road building. The $10,000 gift can be given over time.

Make a gift or pledge

One time gifts, as well as gifts pledged over time can be made online using this link.

Ways to support the campaign:

Pledges
Pledging a gift over two to four years enables donors to make a more substantial gift and to adjust the timing for each payment to achieve optimal tax benefits. Once your pledge is made you will receive a Letter of Intent confirming your total gift amount, along with a schedule for installment payments to fulfill your pledge.

One Time Gifts
You may also make a one time gift. You will receive an acknowledgement letter describing your charitable contribution for your records.

Gifts of Securities
Gifting appreciated securities allows you to deduct the full value of the gift, without incurring capital gains. If you are considering a gift of securities, please contact the Development Office at development@bayridgeprep.org for instructions and more information.

Matching Gifts
Many companies will match the value of charitable gifts made by their employees. When an employer matches all or part of a gift, the donor is recognized for the full amount of their own gift plus any resulting corporate match.

Donor Advised Funds
If you have a Donor Advised Fund you can instruct your sponsoring organization to make a check directly payable to Bay Ridge Prep. Your DAF sponsoring organization will require our tax ID#. Please contact our Development Office for further assistance.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
Donors over the age of 70 years old who have a traditional IRA are eligible to make a donation using their IRA. These gifts are typically tax-free and can help you by fulfilling your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).

Memorial or Honor Gifts
A gift can be made in memory or in honor of a family member, alumni, current student, parents, a faculty member or any other friends of the school. When these gifts are received, the Development Office will note the recognition and discuss any additional wishes of the donor.

The success of our capital campaign will require substantial participation from the Bay Ridge Prep community. Together we will create a new campus that celebrates our 25th anniversary and carries us into our next generation of providing the very best educational experience for our students. With your help, we can achieve our goal. The Development Office is ready to assist you with any questions you may have. Please make your gift today to Our School. This campaign is not just about a building.  It is about expanding our ability to affect the trajectory of children’s lives.

The story of Bay Ridge Prep has always been focused on our unique program and instruction. Until now, we have adapted existing buildings to support our mission. This purchase and subsequent renovation marks the first time since the school was founded nearly 25 years ago that we can fully design a facility to support the outstanding educational outcomes that define Bay Ridge Prep. The additional space the Shore Road property provides will enable us to better meet the needs of current and future Bay Ridge Prep students and enter an exciting era of new possibilities.

With the support of our community, we can make the following a reality:

Rendering of the completed main building on Shore Road.

A new Shore Road facility for Grades 9-12 to move into during the 2024-2025 school year. Just steps away from waterfront parkland and athletic fields, the new property will also include private outdoor space and other areas that the entire school community can make use of.

Modern space for student-artists to work together on creating stunning visual pieces that adorn the hallways of the school buildings.

Music classes will have a space for students to experience an array of different instruments while student clubs like the Jazz Band will have an area to rehearse for recitals.

A private, outdoor rooftop space will enhance the possibilities available for outdoor teaching and learning, plus provide space for students and faculty to complete independent work and socialize.

Multipurpose spaces for collaborative work, studying and recreation.

New spaces for small group learning, meetings and student collaboration.

Rendering of the interior of the Shore Road gym space

In Phase 2 of the project, a residential building on the 75th Street/Bay Ridge Parkway side of the property will be removed to accommodate construction of a new gymnasium and additional classrooms.

The full scale of the Shore Road Property will include:

  • Creation of new classrooms to enhance project-based learning
  • New spaces to provide support for smaller group instruction
  • 2 modern science labs
  • 2 indoor large multipurpose spaces for collaborative work, studying and recreation
  • Outdoor rooftop space for teaching, learning, independent work and school events
  • Outdoor lawn space on Shore Road for gathering and socialization
  • Creative spaces for innovation and design
  • Gymnasium and exercise space for physical education and athletics
