Main Building Renovations on Schedule

After touring the Shore Road property with our Upper School department chairs and directors, Head of School Charles Fasano shared the following photos and update with the school community:

Main Building Renovations on Schedule

As the photos below show, what were vast gutted spaces just a few months ago are now taking the shape of classrooms, multi-use spaces and offices with initial coats of paint on their walls. Major renovations are expected to conclude this spring with the main building opening to Upper School students in September 2024.

*Walls are up and the infrastructure is coming together for classrooms, offices and multi-use spaces.*

*Bright, vibrant spaces for learning, teaching and group collaboration are in the works and will be found throughout the new school building on Shore Road.*

Modern Classrooms, New Labs, Fitness Space, and a Roof Deck

In addition to a mixture of brand new classrooms of varying sizes, the building will feature flexible spaces for collaborative group work and student activities. We are also excited to unveil two modern science labs, arts and music spaces, a fitness room, and a roof deck. Tiger Hall will serve as a multi-use flex space for school events while The Commons will be a lounge space for students to study, complete work, and relax before and after school.

Gymnasium Construction Begins in Spring

We expect construction of the gymnasium building to begin this spring. The house on the corner of Shore Road and 75th Street (Bay Ridge Parkway) will be demolished and the front lawn of the main building will become a staging area for gymnasium construction. This will last throughout the 2024-2025 school year with the goal of opening the gymnasium and restoring the front lawn for the 2025-2026 school year. The gymnasium will connect with the main building and the rendering below shows what the property will eventually look like.
